Transportation companies are increasingly offering their employees job search tools as they scramble to compete with Uber and Lyft.
The latest innovation, Lyft’s new job search app, has raised questions about how well the company can match the services of both companies.
The app, Lyfts own job search platform, is available only on the iPhone and Android platforms, but Uber and its own job board, the Jobboard, are on iOS and Android.
While both apps have similar features, Uber has a more robust job board with more than 2,000 job openings.
A Lyft spokesperson said the app has a “robust search platform” that is “designed to give you the tools to search and apply for jobs, from a wide range of industries.”
Job boards for both companies are built by different companies and have their own set of rules, including strict caps on candidates’ hours, the ability to search for job titles and the ability for candidates to “pre-apply” to job openings within the app.
Uber’s job board offers similar features and is widely used by many of its drivers.
Uber declined to comment on Lyft’s job search.
The Uber job board is the first major company to adopt the JobBoard and the other companies are expected to follow suit, said the company’s chief executive officer, Tony Hsieh.
“Our goal is to build a platform that is the next big thing for hiring, and that is what we are doing here,” he said.
“We’re excited to work with them to help them expand their app and make it better.”
The JobBoard allows job seekers to create and share job-seeking profiles, track their progress and upload resumes, according to a JobBoard FAQ.
The Jobboard is free to use, but the startup has raised an additional $4 million from venture capital firms and is working to expand its workforce, according a company blog post.
The new JobBoard app includes a new hiring feature called “Live Previews,” which allows users to post job listings that have not yet been made available for hire.
The live preview feature lets job seekers “see if they can get a job within minutes, which they can then apply for and begin their search for that job,” according to the Job Board FAQ.
Job boards are a common way for job seekers, who are often struggling to find work, to find jobs quickly, said Daniel Toth, a managing partner at the Palo Alto-based firm Talent Management.
“Companies are building these platforms to help job seekers get the job they want,” Toth said.
Jobboards can also be used by job seekers with disabilities, who may struggle to find and apply to jobs quickly.
“If you are a disabled person who has been unemployed for a long time, it’s going to be difficult for them to find a job,” Toths said.
The job boards can also help employers hire for more diverse groups, according the Job Boards blog post, by allowing users to search jobs based on gender, race, age, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity and socioeconomic status.
In the past, Job Boards have offered a wide variety of job search features, including job boards for people with disabilities and a job board for senior citizens.
The companies that launched Job Boards for disability applicants have also found success.
Google launched its disability job board in 2016 and now has over 200,000 active job openings across its many search engines, according Job Boards.
The platform includes features such as a job search dashboard for people who are blind or visually impaired and a new “autopilot” feature for job listings.
Job Boards also have a job creation tool that lets job candidates upload job listings, but they have limited job creation capabilities, according Toth.
The company has also been criticized by the American Civil Liberties Union for having a “job board for white men” that “does not allow anyone else to use their profile.”
Toth called the ACLU’s concerns about the Jobboards “misleading.”
“If they are concerned about a white man being able to use the Job board, they are really missing the point,” Tyseth said.
In addition to the companies, Uber and the Job boards have been working on a new job board platform called Uber Search, which is designed to allow job seekers who have not used Job Boards to apply for positions, according TechCrunch.
Uber Search is available for iOS and Google Android, and the company is planning to launch the app in 2018, according an Uber spokesperson.
Uber has also created its own Job Board, called the CareerBuilder Job Board.
The CareerBuilder is similar to the job board apps available for Uber and other companies, but it is not a Job Board and can only be used on iOS, according its website.
